The York Princesses in conversation with Teenage Cancer Trust

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie joined Teenage Cancer Trust to learn about how teenagers with cancer are coping during the pandemic. The call featured eight young people who are battling cancer as well as a youth support coordinator and nurse who are based at the NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Both Beatrice and Eugenie have worked with and supported Teenage Cancer Trust for much of their lives. During the conversation they heard more about how the pandemic has affected them with some of their treatments being pushed back while others have to deal with entering hospitals several times a week for treatment. They shared how the pandemic has added to their anxiety about treatment.
Teenage Cancer Trust has transferred one hundred percent of their operations to a digital platform within one week so that they could continue to run quizzes, music and one-to-ones with teenagers undergoing treatment. They shared that this has been something that they have to look forward to and something fun to do when on lockdown and dealing with treatment.
They shared that they feel that they have support through this time because of the work that Teenage Cancer Trust has been doing and continue to do. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie thanked them for sharing their stories and their time with them to learn more about their lives during the Pandemic. xx
