Over the weekend, the Duchess of Sussex made an impromptu trip to New York in order to support her friend, Serena Williams, who was playing in the Women's Singles Finals. The Duchess was seated in the players box along with Williams mother and sister. Williams's husband Alexis Ohanian and her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou.

She opted for a casual but sophisticated look with a denim dress and grey sweater on top, both pieces from J-Crew. The Duchess has sported denim on several occasions, typically wearing it to sporting events like the Invictus Games, polo matches and Wimbledon. The Duchess included a dainty gold necklace the featured two dog tags, one with an "H" and the other with a "M".

While Williams did not end up winning the match, defeated after two sets by canadian player, Bianca Andreescu, the Duchess seemed to have a wonderful time while there. She was seen hugging Williams husband and catching up with the rest of the tennis stars family. She also spoke briefly to Anna Wintour, Vogue's editor-in-chief, who was sitting behind her during the match.

This was not the first time that the Duchess of Sussex has watched Williams play. She attended the Ladies Singles Final at Wimbledon in 2018 when Williams played Angelique Kerber. The Duchess attended Wimbledon twice in 2019 to watch Williams including in the Ladies Singles Finals again where Williams unfortunately lost to Serena Halep.

Since Williams is one of the greatest athletes alive today, there are sure to be plenty of other opportunities for the Duchess to support her friend in the future.
