Princess Beatrice is officially engaged to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The news was announced on social media on friday with Princess Eugenie sharing photos of her sister and her new fiance.

The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York expressed their excitement in a statement that read in part "We are the lucky parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a completely devoted friend and loyal young man. We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future.”

Congratulations were also shared by Princess Beatrice who wrote in an instagram caption, "I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It's been a long time coming and you two are meant to be."

Since Princess Beatrice is ninth in line for the throne, she did not need the permission of the Queen like her cousins, Prince William and Prince Harry. While the Queen only needs to give permission to the first six in line to the throne, she seems to approve of the match since Edoardo has already attended a few family events including the wedding on Lady Gabriella Kingston and he accompanied Princess Beatrice to Balmoral for holiday.

The pair have known one another for most of their lives but only began dating in 2018 when both of them were single at the same time. Princess Beatrice has dated businessman, Dave Clark for ten years before they broke up in 2016. Edoardo had previously been engaged to Dara Huang from 2015 to 2018 but they never married. The couple share a two year old son together, Chrispher "Woolfie" Woolf.

The wedding will take place in 2020 with more details to be announced in due time. xx
