Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor Christening

Last week the several senior members of the Royal Family gathered at Windsor Castle to celebrate the christening of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had announced beforehand that they planned to keep the ceremony private, but that photos taken by Chris Allerton would be released afterwards.

The christening took place at the Queens private Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The Prince of Wales was present for his grandsons christening along with his wife, The Duchess of Cornwall. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were also in attendance to support their nephew (Archie Harrison is the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's second nephew, their first, Arthur Michael William Matthews was born late last year) The Duchess's mother, Doria Ragland and the Dukes maternal Aunts were also present.

While the names of the Godparents will not be released, it can be assumed that no family members were asked since it is already expected that they will be part of Archie's life. The Duchess of Sussex had been seen at Wimbledon earlier in the week with some friends from her University days. Subsequently, there has been speculation both women could have been asked to be godparents. Other guesses for godparents included the Van Straubenzee's as they have had a long relationship with both the Duke of Sussex and Duke of Cambridge. Charlie van Straubenzee was selected as a Godparent for Princess Charlotte.

The photos of the christening were released a few hours later. In the first, the whole family is present, with Archie sitting on his mothers lap. The second was a more intimate black and white photo of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with Archie between them.

It is unlikely the public will see Archie again at an official event for a while. While there were pictures of Archie in his mothers arms, along with his cousins, it was not an official event. More likely we will not see Archie until the royal tour to South Africa in the Autumn. xx
